R for Racing

This Type R is simple and to the point. It is not overdone with wings and things. It is sleek, low and definitely cool. While the outside is uncorrupted, the heart of the car, beats mean and strong. This car is not all show and no go but rather, all go and no show.

This particular car is tuned up for daily driving, but given the chance to stretch its legs, it would keep up with the best of them. Norm Li paid top dollars for quality parts. As most agree, it is a smooth ride and has good low end idle. It feels like a Type R until the turbo boost kicks in. 1000, 2000, 3000, the next stop is REDLINE. The torque is amazing considering it is a four cylinder engine. You can get this car to churn and burn rubber with 1st and 2nd gear with no wheel hop.Wheel spin on demand like a Viper breaking loose on your whim. It has 277 hp at the wheel all courtesy of GReddy turbo charger. It also has a GReddy oil cooler to cool off this temperamental red head. Honda has definitley learned their lessons well from racing, being CART Champions with Alex Zanardi and especially in Formula One with the Williams and McClaren teams.

It has 16 inch SPOON rims to clear the large SPOON brake calipers. Every racer knows that stopping power plays a very big part in racing. Out breaking your opponent is a fundamental rule in racing. How the car handles is the next question. You have good power coming from the engine, great stopping power, what comes next? Suspension. How does this car handles around corners? This car can out corner a Porsche 993 and a Dodge Viper from its stiff suspension coupled with the lightness of the car. It has SPOON polyurethane bushings and Apexi N1 coil over suspensions. Needless to say, it handles very well, especially when you want to put the power down at the end of the clover leaf.

The detailing does not exlude the exterior. With the GReddy orange illuminated guages on the driver's window pillar, puts night driving in this car in a whole new dimension. The picture does not do it justice. Just imagine yourself sitting in the cockpit, driving to Whistler for a late night coffee with all the guages lit up around you. Winding roads with only your headlights to guide you, it is, as most would say it, a "sweet ride".
